This Privacy Policy describes how Sanchaar (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects information when you use the Sanchaar mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Definitions
- Account — A user profile created when you sign in to the Service (for example, via Google Sign-In).
- Personal Data — Information that identifies you or can reasonably be associated with you.
- Usage Data — Information collected automatically when you interact with the Service.
- User Content — Comments, replies, @mentions, reports, and similar material you submit through the Service.
- Service Providers — Third parties that process data on our behalf to operate the Service (such as Google/Firebase and advertising partners).
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
When you register for or use certain features, we may collect:

Sign-in is required for commenting, reporting, referrals, mention notifications, and certain other features.

3.3 Third-party sign-in
If you sign in with Google, we receive information that Google makes available to us according to your Google account settings and permissions (typically your name, email address, and profile picture). Google’s handling of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Facebook login is not currently offered in the application.
3.4 News and media content
News articles may be served from our infrastructure and third-party news providers. When you open external links or use Live TV features that play content via YouTube or other third-party platforms, those services may collect information under their own privacy policies.
4. How we use your information
We use Personal Data and Usage Data to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service (news feed, categories, search, bookmarks, profile)
- Authenticate you and manage your Account
- Enable comments, replies, and @mentions between users
- Deliver push notifications when you enable them (news alerts, mentions, and replies)
- Operate referral rewards and ad-free subscription features
- Display advertisements, unless you have an active ad-free entitlement
- Personalize content recommendations based on your reading and interaction patterns
- Moderate the Service, including reviewing reports and enforcing community standards
- Analyze usage, diagnose technical issues, and improve security and performance
- Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests
5. User content, comments, and moderation
- Comments, replies, and @mentions you post may be visible to other users of the Service.
- Your display name and profile photo may appear alongside your comments.
- Other users may @mention you; you may receive in-app and push notifications for mentions and replies.
- Users may report comments. Reports are reviewed by administrators.
- We use automated and manual moderation, including checks for disallowed language. Content that violates our policies may be flagged, removed, or result in account warnings, temporary restrictions, or permanent blocks.
- If your account is warned or blocked, you may be signed out and unable to use some or all features.
6. Notifications
When you enable notifications in the app and grant permission in your device settings, we may:
- Subscribe your device to news alert topics (for example, trending or breaking news)
- Send notifications related to @mentions and replies on your Account
- Store a push messaging token associated with your user ID to deliver these messages
You can disable notifications at any time through Profile → Get notifications in the app and through your device’s system notification settings.
7. Advertising and in-app purchases
Advertising
We use Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads) to display advertisements in the app. AdMob and its partners may collect and use data, including advertising identifiers, to serve and measure ads. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and Ads Settings.
Ad-free subscription
You may purchase an ad-free subscription through Google Play Billing. Payment processing is handled by Google; we do not receive your full payment card details. We store subscription-related entitlement information (such as ad-free period) linked to your Account.
9. Data storage and international transfer
Your information is stored and processed using Google Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure, which may operate in India and other countries. By using the Service, you understand that your data may be transferred to jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your own. We rely on appropriate contractual and technical safeguards provided by our Service Providers where applicable.
10. Retention
We retain Personal Data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:
- Account data — while your Account is active and for a limited period thereafter where required by law or legitimate business needs
- Comments — until deleted by you, removed by moderators, or deleted as part of content removal
- Reports and moderation records — as needed for safety, dispute resolution, and legal compliance
- Usage and analytics data — generally for shorter periods, unless needed for security or legal obligations
You may request deletion of your Account by contacting us (see Section 16). Some information may persist in backups or where retention is required by law.
11. Security
We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and Firebase security rules. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and applicable law (including principles under Indian data protection frameworks), you may have the right to:
- Access or receive a copy of your Personal Data
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your Account and associated data
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (for example, by disabling notifications or signing out)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings and Google Ads Settings

13. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected such data without verified parental consent, we will take steps to delete it.
Where local law requires parental consent for users under a higher age threshold, we will comply with those requirements.
14. Third-party links and services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, news sources, YouTube, social platforms, and other external services. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of every site or service you visit.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we may provide additional notice within the app or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of the changes, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
